Recent Scams in India - Know the facts for GD/PI

In last few year India has witnessed a large number of scams where public money has been looted by the politicians and  bureaucrats. Year 2011 also witnessed strong resentment among people of India against corruption leading to strong nationwide protests against corruption. 
Before getting into the list of scam which rocked the nation in last few years below points are worth noting from GD/PI perspective:
  • Scams adversely impacts the economy of any nation and too many scams could  result in major economic decline . 
  • Involvement of  Government ministers in these scams, clearly depicts a sad picture of  the democracy. It also portrays loss of credibility with regard to governance. 
  • In India the working class has to pay a huge part of their salary as Income Tax to Government for the development and betterment of the country. Such scams results in strong resentment among the tax payers when they realize that there are hard earned contribution has been looted in scams. 
  • The Government's failure to keep a tab on inflation (rising prices) could well be attributed to these scams. 
  • Scam results in lack of trust among people and different institutions. It also puts emotional and psychological burdens placed on the fraud victims (tax payers)
  • Scams damages the economic outlook of a nation resulting in loss of FIIs(Foreign Institutional Investment) & FDIs(Foreign direct investment )
  • Biggest impact of corruption on business is its tendency to skew level playing field and attract organizations with lesser capability to execute projects. This creates inefficiencies in the system and hence increases the cost of operations.
