What would you suggest to an aspirant with 6-7 years of Work-ex ? Max of these schools are thronged by freshies who get into MBA course right after their graduation. Sooner or Later, you people should actually start understanding the ranking's nuances. You have to rank these in categories. Like Mica is number one for marketing and branding careers. Even ISB would fail in front of it in it's core expertise. Similarily, for experienced people, ISB and Great Lakes are the best option ... Have some sense before copy and paste ...

DeleteMICA is very good college for marketing, but it cannot be number one in India just based on the content of the course. There are other factors which decide rankings such as Placements, Brand value of Companies who visit college, Faculty, Infrastructure, Industry Tie-ups, Profile of candidates joining in.
An aspirant with 6-7 year of exp. should try to join:
- Any Top 15 college
- Go for Executive MBA
- Must be flexible to learn with freshers
6-7 years of experience doesn't mean that you have completed half your MBA and have become an expert in managing, if that is the case then there is hardly any point doing full time MBA. Studying with a mixed age group of people brings in lot of new perspectives to the learning.

6) You will get unlimited suppli and also year back because the psycho faculties will not give you an internal as well as external marks.
7) If possible then they can give you a year lag in 2nd year 3rd semester or 4rth semester.
8) There are some faculties ( high politicians ) who hate the students without any valid reason.
Also it may happen that you will not get a MBA degree from this department because of year back and supplies you will be frustrated and loosing all the hopes you may quit in the future, so decide what you will do, better you join any private good quality institutes or any other NIT or any govt institute. DeleteTo get admission in Christ College you need to write CAT or MAT. Cutoff for CAT is 75 percentile and in MAT it is 600+ score.
Apart from CAT score for giving calls to students Christ colleges conducts following tests for final selections:
1. Group Discussion for 35 minutes for each group and Micro Presentation for 90 sec/ student in a group
2. Candidates will be asked to write on topic for not more than one A4 size sheet and for not more than 10 minutes
3. Personal interview for 15 minutes for each candidate by an expert panel
4. Assessment of past performance in Class 10, Class 12, and Degree during the Personal Interview.

DeleteIf you did 10th/12th from CBSE/ICSE or state boards were other student would have got much higher percentage in 10th/12th, than you have very less chance of getting calls from top IIMs and FMS (assuming you are from General category).
You may get call from lower IIMs if you score very high in CAT 99.6+ with consistent marks across sections.

Hence FMS is not giving any weightage to past academics marks.

DeleteSorry for any confusions. Most of the tops IIMs look into past academic profile of candidates and have set separate cutoff for the same. Even if you score 100 in CAT but your academics are not good as per their cutoffs for academics then you will not get calls from these IIMs.
Coming back to FMS, you have good news that for current year they have specified below criteria and they are not considering academic marks:
"For the academic year 2013, Admission to M.B.A. (Full-Time) and Ph.D. Programmes will be based on Personal interview, Group discussion and CAT-2012 score (Common Admission Test conducted by Indian Institutes of Management during October 11, 2012 to November 06, 2012)."
One year of Gap is explainable and you have to justify the same with proper reasoning.

1) This department is the worse department of NIT-Dgp.
2) Each and every faculty members and students play cheap politics with the other students.
3) 0% placement & summer internship.
4) no proper infrastructure , no hostel facility available.
5) You will get a worthless MBA degree which will be of no use because the average cgpa will be around 5 point ( less than 50 % )
6) You will get unlimited suppli and also year back because the psycho faculties will not give you an internal as well as external marks.
7) If possible then they can give you a year lag in 2nd year 3rd semester or 4rth semester.
8) There are some faculties ( high politicians ) who hate the students without any valid reason.
Also it may happen that you will not get a MBA degree from this department because of year back and supplies you will be frustrated and loosing all the hopes you may quit in the future, so decide what you will do, better you join any private good quality institutes or any other NIT or any govt institute. And if you want to spoil your bright future career, you are always welcome to dms nitdgp
More than 50% students got supplis & year lag due to the shortage of internal marks in different subjects the worthless faculties give 10-15 marks out of 50 in internals and the external exam is of 100 marks which is divided by 2 i.e. total marks = 50 + (100/2) and maximum got 30-40 in external out of 100 due to tough questions hence it will become 15 or 20 so 15+10=25( suppli) or 20+15=35 ( again suppli ) so you better think, if you want to get suppli and a year lag free with the suppli then please join this institute now.

I completed my Btech in 2012 in Computer Science and currently I am working in Samsung India as a Software Developer. I have a total experience of 8 months till date. My 12th % is 78.6, my 10 % is 83.6, Btech CGPA : 8.81.
I actually want to pursue MBA in finance and want to leave the job. I would be appearing for MBA in 2014 and probably willing to leave my job by next two months. Now my basic concern is about 1.5 years of gap which I would be having after leaving the job and appearing for the cat. I want a suggestion that if I do any kind of certification course in finance during these 1.5 years , will it be helpful for me to evade from that GAP reasons which would be asked during the interview process?
My second concern is, if the answer to the above question is yes, then what are the certifications programs currently available that would be recognized and would be appreciated or would add value to my CV and would help me in getting admission into a good institute. I know two of the certification programs 1) learnwithflip.com and 2) CFA. If i do few certifications from learnwithflip.com and I clear CFA level 1 exam, would that be helpful.
Please Please do guide me. I am in a very difficult situation right now.
