    i have just entered btech (ece) 2nd year with 78% in first year from ggsipu.i want to know how can i plan studies for cat the current period(that is 2nd year).... i just wanna reach iimssss.. please help me as there is not much of free time i have.... n do i need to join a coaching institute???

      This is the right to plan your career after B.Tech and good to know that you are thinking in the right direction.
      Coming back to your questions:
      1. Reaching IIMs
      IIMs screen candidates based on lot of parameter apart from CAT score. You definitely need to have 99+ CAT percentile with consistent percentile across sections. Along with CAT score you also need to have excellent academics marks(10th, 12th & graduation). You can read IIMs selection criteria at below page:

      2. Planning your preparation:
